The Waci or Wacigbe is a Gbe spoken in Benin, Togo, and Ghana by the Waci population. It is part of linguistic continuum with Gen and Ewe. Number of speakers is 476000 in 1993. The waci are from the southwest of Benin. Located 60 km from Cotonou, Comé is a crossroads town which extends over 249 km2. The city is the main city of the Waci, however they are also present in the areas of  Athieme and Grand Popo. Agriculture and of course commerce given the strategic geographical position are the main income generating activities of the community. The Waci community is also the town of ablo and akpesse ( agouti meat) and konme. It is indeed difficult to cross the town without being assailed by these numerous street sellers who come to offer you ablo with kannami or snail. The Waci are rich in cultures such as Agbadja, Atime drums, Agueche, Tales, Proverbs etc... They are mixed in religion but celebrate each year a cultural festival called Agbesignanle. It should be noted that this community is influenced by several. Especially the Mina which is often confused with Waci. And even Mina is alphabetized in the Waci community which means that Waci prefers to express itself in Mina, hence the birth of Wacigbe A YI Ŋukɔ Association with the support of Wycliffe Benin, to resurrect this culturally rich community. The wacigbe A YI Ŋukɔ Association was born on Saturday June 3, 2021, at the Comé youth center, in a general assembly with around 100 participants. At the end of this general assembly, 17 were elected to lead the association and the executive board of 5 members. Headed by president ELAVAGNON Alain. It should also be noted that Saturday, January 4, 2023 was the official launch of the association. And on Monday January 9, 2023, the Wacigbe A YI Ŋukɔ Association intervenes in several areas, namely:

Linguistic Research, Bible Traslation, Community Developpment, and promotion of culture.
